Why you should demand *ethical* stem cell research!

Did you know stem cells can be gathered from ethical sources? The afterbirth or Placentia is just one of these no-kill sources. But why is this so important? Just watch this following movie…

Now I propose that the rabbit hole goes even deeper – what if we could create engineered organs? Now organs that have complex functions like the lung and the liver are hard to create – but what about the human heart?

The heart is basically a series of muscle tendons and membranes that form chambers and valves -the valves are basically cartilage and the rest is run of the mill muscle and membranes.

Presently scientists are trying to clone whole organs (as seen below) – but what if the answer was more simple?

I propose that the the best way to achieve a usable “cultured” human organ – especially the heart – is to grow the muscle, valves, and assemble it following an “architecture” resembling the current organ.

Scientists have been creating cultured meat for years…

We could group the muscle in bundles – shaped in chambers – connected by the “stem cell membrane” and run electrical nano wires to stimulate the chambers controlled by a small implanted pacemaker unit.

We could encase the in the stem cell generated membrane (see the skin movie)  and this lab created unit would not be subject to rejection as a human to human transplant.  Therefore rejection would not be a factor and damaging immune suppression therapy would be a thing of the past.

Now you might cringe at this thought, but until your life is touched by this topic you could never understand. If anyone out there can make this happen I would gladly submit this idea to the great conversation for discussion and research.

Sigh – I wish I had billions to make this stuff happen.
